ORIA & ORWMA

There has been some confusion over the difference between ORIA and ORWMA since Sabine Investments developed the area.  Some landowners believe they are the same organization.  This should help eliminate any further confusion and clarify the difference between ORIA and ORWMA. Each entity has a unique and important role in the Oakridge Ranch community.  Both welcome and encourage your involvement.

ORIA

Sometime during the Fall of 1998, Sabine Investments administered what was called the Oakridge Property Owners Association (POA).  The wildlife committee was submitted as a committee of the original POA and accepted as such by Sabine Investments.  So ORWMA began as a committee of the POA; and the original POA is now Oak Ridge Improvement Association (“ORIA”) as mentioned on the history tab of this website.  Texas Parks & Wildlife Department’s (“TPWD’s”) reporting requirements, legal complexities regarding officer elections, chair appointments and financial expenditures (dues and taxes) caused the organizations to decide to separate sometime in 2000.

ORIA, originally established as Oakridge POA by Sabine Investments, became the property owners’ association when the roads were turned over to the landowners / property owners.  It consists of a five-member Board of Directors, elected annually by landowners.

When you purchase property in Oakridge Ranch, you are an ORIA member and you must pay annual dues and approved special assessments.  Landowners are encouraged to vote in all ORIA elections.

ORIA is governed by the Articles of Incorporation filed under the Texas Non-Profit Corporation Act.  Membership is defined in the Declaration of Covenants for Oakridge Ranch, which was established by Sabine Investments and accepted by Colorado County Commissioners Court in March 1996.  The Board of Directors is established, based on landowner votes, at each annual meeting held on the first Saturday in June.  The ORIA Board of Directors is governed by the Declaration of Covenants.

The Board of Directors has oversight of the various committees that suggest and implement improvements within Oakridge Ranch.  ORIA and its committees take on a tremendous responsibility for our community.  Active committees include the Restrictions & Architectural, Neighborhood Watch & Security, Roads, Communications, and Long Range Planning committees.  These committees are open to any landowner who wishes to participate.  Each committee has a chairperson as well as a member of the Board to direct the meetings and presentations to the Board of Directors.  These committees can also be found on the website.

ORIA welcomes your attendance at the Board meetings, which are generally held the 2nd Sunday of each month at 2:00 pm at the Oakridge Ranch Community Center.  ORIA also welcomes your input and suggestions to make Oakridge Ranch a better place to live and a place that all of us can be proud to call home.  Committee meetings are held separately from the Board meetings.  Members and guests are always welcome and may contact the committee chairs for more information.  We are all here for the same purpose – the betterment of our home and community.  If you have questions concerning ORIA, you may contact a Board member.

ORWMA

Oakridge Ranch Wildlife Management Association (“ORWMA”) was established in September 1998 when a group of five technical wildlife biologists visited the Ranch to tour and review the preliminary Wildlife Management Plan.  The group was a grass roots movement by landowners who met in response to a letter from Jim and Carolyn Trickett in the summer of 1998.  Many landowners wanted to preserve and enhance habitat for all indigenous wildlife & habitat here in Oakridge Ranch.  This goal remains the purpose of ORWMA today.

When you purchase property in Oakridge Ranch as part of a Managed Land Development with oversight by Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, you are automatically members of ORWMA. Active membership & participation in ORWMA by all landowners is strongly encouraged.  Please see the ORWMA website for more information on how you may become involved and for an ORWMA Membership Application.   http://orwma.org.
Or contact ORWMA directly at oakridgeranchwma@gmail.com.
